Very beautiful place with great service. The food was delicious everyone enjoyed their pick! Deviled eggs were delicious as a starter.
I forget how good this place is. Friends went here when we couldn't get into the restaurant we originally planned to go to on a Thursday evening and glad we did! Hit the tail end of hh and got the ahi tuna tostadas (yum) and I had the poblano soup and a side salad. Service wasn't anything special but the food hit the spot and will be sure to be back again soon.
My new favorite brunch spot! No wonder why my friend brings everyone here as her go-to. It was shockingly empty for a Sunday morning on Broadway. There were 4 of us, and we were seated right away. They take reservations, but one wasn't needed. It's a spacious restaurant. I had the Latin Prime Rib Hash, which I couldn't take my eyes off of. Paired with a Spicy Bloody Mary, it was the perfect brunch. Our waitress wasn't very welcoming and seemed a little out of it, but maybe it wasn't her day. Would come here again anyways!
I met up with a friend for lunch at The Hornet. We sat at the bar and I was real happy to see Guinness on tap so that was the obvious choice for me. We both got the artichoke fritter and veggie wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap was solid if a little light on fried artichokes. The sweet potato fries were a classic example of sweet potato fries and I ate every last one with no regrets. The bartender/server was exceptionally nice and made the overall experience a pleasant one. I'd definitely come back!
Came here for brunch on the coldest day of the year. The food was amazing and eclectic, the service was on point, and the ambience was cozy and comfortable. There were bottomless Bloody Mary's (a self serve bar with fixins) and Mimosas in several different fruity flavors. I had an Espresso Martini with Oatmilk and was shocked that they had several milk alternatives -- score!!! My party had the following dishes, all of which we would gladly order again: Latin Prime Rib Hash $18 Breakfast Tacos $16 Pupusa Revuelta $14 + $3 extra pork Fried Chicken $19 (subbed mashed potatoes) I had extra pork with my Pupusa and it was worth it in my opinion. One of my guests had a piece of butter wrapper in her potatoes but the server comped that dish. That's good customer service! It honestly just proved to me that they use fresh ingredients so no harm, no foul in my book. (My guest still ate them too and said they were really good) I've been to quite a few brunch spots but this one now tops my list. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. *My only complaint was that I found out that we could order off the regular menu after I had chosen what I wanted for brunch - me choosing is a long ordeal. It's not really a complaint because that makes this place even better. All their food looks pretty impressive! Hats off to the peeps in the kitchen.
We sat at the bar on New Year's Day for brunch, served by the illustrious and skillful Liz and Erica. Although the place was packed and extremely busy, the staff managed to keep a good handle on things. The open-seating bar saved us from waiting perhaps an hour and a half. Brunch at The Hornet is quite fun. There is an expansive menu from which to choose, the drinks are delightful, and the energie is excellent! I cannot wait to return. :)
4.5 stars. Had the veggie wrap and it was fantastic, the let me get fried plantains for the side (yum!). Got the Passion Project drink (a little watery tasting but light nice flavor). The carrot cake was shared by table , nice spice cake base, light and moist. Would get it again. Great service, friendly and proactive. Quiet and nice ambience (wasn't very crowded so not sure how would be if busy). Bathrooms were just ok (weird toilet paper dispenser and cold air blower for drying hands)
The Hornet is located in a very hipster area of town that offers lots of unique spots to explore! Three things that stood out to my friend group and I were: 1. The amazing service! 2. The huge portions 3. Delicious food!! I got the chilaquiles and as much as I loved them, it was so much I could not finish them. They had a nice kick to them and asking for a over easy egg on top was the cherry on top to my dish. Definitely check out The Hornet!!
Lovely place for brunch :) Build your own bloody bar for $5! Additional for different vodkas but still was super fun I loved this. The portions are hefty and they are delicious. The dirty south chick is a must have! This place gives a very home-y feel and service was great. I've only been here for brunch and I'm probably looking to come back for lunch or dinner next.
Loved dinner tonight at the hornet! Truly, don't have any notes on how the meal could have been better. I can't wait to go back and try more of what they have on the menu, it was really hard to narrow it down. Our waitress was so attentive and professional & the restaurant was quiet enough on a Friday night to be able to have good conversation. I got the Reuben with sweet potato fries. The sandwich had spicy bacon sauerkraut, which added a really delicious flavor & one that I haven't experienced before. And I've had my fair share of Reuben's! I also appreciate that they don't up charge for sweet potato fries. My friend got the Mayan salad with grilled chicken and loved it. My other friend got the Broadway dip which is their a version of a French dip. She got it Philly style, which added mushrooms, onions, & banana peppers. This is definitely worth the up-charge of $2 because 1) it tasted amazing but also 2) the sandwich would've been a little bland without it. Lastly, I definitely recommend ordering a huckleberry lemonade, which has vodka and lavender lemonade. I could've had 5 they were so good.
